XMIFC faced Jinlong in Xiamen Super League this Saturday. The last time these two sides met the score was 6-1 for XMIFC. Jinlong was yet to have a point in the league until this game and they wanted their first point against XMIFC and cause an upset. XMIFC despite missing a few players from the usual starting line up were still the heavy favorites against Jinlong.
At the start of the game XMIFC pushed through the flanks, trying to see an opening in Jinlong defence but were not able to penetrate the Jinlong defence in the opening 15 minutes. First goal of the game came in 17th minute from Fabian when the Jinlong goalkeeper spilled the ball from a corner, Fabian picked up the pieces and put XMIFC in the lead.
Soon after Sebastian was fouled at the edge of the box, giving XMIFC an excellent chance to score, Pablo did not refuse giving XMIFC their 2nd goal, later Pablo scored another goal from an identical free kick, this time aided by the wall.
Near the end of the first half Fabian found the back of the net again, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside call.
XMIFC kept dominating in the game in the second half, especially down the right flank, this allowed Loic, who replaced Sercan during second half, to have clear cut chances. Cameroonian striker scored his first goal for the club in one of these chances giving XMIFC a four goal lead. Loic scored 2 more goals in quick succession grabbing his hat-trick, 6-0.
XMIFC`s final goal came from Shaun, on his first touch. It was a fine header from the Englishman, his first goal this season, in his first appearance as well 7-0
Late in the game, XMIFC started to lose team structure given the result, Jinlong was able to push forward easier. It allowed them to score two quick goals before the final whistle in quick succession, the final score; Xiamen International FC 7 – 2 Jinlong.
After this result XMIFC now sits 2nd in the table ahead of Zhenhao. XMIFC will face Jimei Chengyi at Haicang Sports Center next weekend.
